The African continent is home to an evergreen tree called yohimbe, which is used to make remedies to treat fever and low libido. Another use for yohimbe bark extract is for treatment of erectile dysfunction.
The remedy is available in capsules, tablets, and as a tea, but dosing is difficult. Men who take too little will not experience any benefits from yohimbe, while those who take too much may experience side effects, including insomnia, dizziness, anxiety, nausea, elevated blood pressure, and a rapid heartbeat.
The Food and Drug Administration has received reports from men who have experienced seizures and kidney failure associated with using yohimbe. When considering all these facts, it is best to avoid using yohimbe.
